New member hello
Hi Everyone,
I go by Jake and I just acquired the 11th steed to the barn, a 1987 CBR1000F. I've been at this game over 30 yrs and thought I would purchase my first sport type bike. I have a question concerning articles I've read on the cam chain tensioner (problem?) on the early CBR's. This particular bikehas 9300miles on it.Is this something I should be concerned with? and if so, was there a recall of any type? I like what I've read so far on the site. Very informative. Hello to all again and thank's, Jake.

Welcome to the site. Regarding the OEM, the CCTL may start to rattle between 5K - 6K rpms, which means that it may need replacement. From what I understand, it is something that isn't a huge issue, but the sound is annoying. It can be replaced with another OEM replacement or manual APE CCTL.

Glad your here and welcome to the site! Feel free to use the "search" function to help you find threads that may have information you could use, it's really handy! There's also a decent amount of information in the "How-To" section, and if it's NOT there, and you do something to your bike, we'd all like to see pictures and have you take us through it with you!
