New Member to Forum. Soon to be New Rider.
Hi all,
New Member to the CBR Forums. I am in the process of looking for a motorcycle to buy as my first motorcycle. Currently looking at a CBR600F2 as a first motorcycle. Is that a good motorcycle to start out on? Its stock and in good condition.

the F2 is a great starter bike.. comfortable and plenty of power to grow with. Also, they are relatively cheap if you can find a good example.. not sure of what your budget is but also keep your eyes open for a good deal on an F3.
The F2 and F3 just have a certain classic motorcycle sportbike look to them without looking 'old'.
welcome

Welcome to the forum.
I agree with everyone else, the F2 is a great bike to learn on. Try to get on that's in good shape, although that may be hard to do these days. You will learn to work on it as well as how to ride.
Many very experienced rider still ride F2s. It will last you a long time, as long as it's mechanically sound.

Welcome aboard.
Whatever you buy, be sure and take the MSF basic rider course, especially if this will your first bike. You'll learn lots of skills that will help to keep you safe on the road. I took it myself a couple of years ago.

welcome to CBRF! i started on an f3 - similar to the f2 - and it taught me a lot. the great thing about older 600s is that they DO have enough power to scare a new rider, so it always will demand your attention. and that's a great thing if you want to move up in motor size or newer bikes. having said that, it's not overwhelming. it's a comfy bike, the ergos aren't too demanding like the newer bikes of today.
have fun! i'd say there's nothing wrong with starting on an older 600, especially the f2/f3/f4
