hello my wife and I just got bikes real excited for spring to arrive. mine is an 06 gsxr 750 and she got a 02 cbr f4i. cant wait to get them on the road. we do have a little issue with the cbr. she would like it to be a little lower but we dont really care to lower the bike, I heard there are seats that take a few inches off the height so she can flat foot the bike. i have searched and cant find anything on this.. does anybody know where to find a seat for this? thanks a lot.

welcome to CBRF
as far as the seat goes, i believe the seat sits rigth on the subframe and the seat itself cant be more than couple of inches high with the padding. so unless you wanna ride on the board with no padding, you just have to deal with the hight or lower the bike.
if im wrong i am sorry but i dont think i am.

you could always have the seat redone at auto upholstery shop. they may be able to take out some foam or narrow it a bit, then maybe put a gel pad. it wont be as comfortable and i dont think you'll get a few inches. but the narrower seat will allow for extra reach. also look for riding boots with a little thicker sole, but not so much you cant shift. just a thought...

thanks for the replies. yea the more i read, im finding out that the stock seat is the lowest seat for the cbr.. some are a little more narrow to allow more flat foot stance but not by much.. i dont think we'll be taking this route afterall.. either she will become confident w her bike or we'll just have to lower it. thanks for the advice though.

welcome to cbrf. i agree that you wont get much from the seat. but i can say that I have a 1-3 inch lower dogbone and a 1 inch shorter kickstand for sale if interested ;-) Have you tried softening the suspension so it sinks a bit lower? Just an idea. Not sure what kind of riding yall will be doing but its not too bad 1 inch lower. You do loose some cornering though.

Welcome aboard Tony!
Yeah, I have the split-seat & can tell you that there's a reason its nicknamed "the plank"...its already about as flat as its gonna get.
If its a safety issue at the stock height for her, you really do need to lower the bike a bit. Its isn't a dif process & could really help her a lot.
Hope whatever the decision is, that it works out well.
