New-to-me bike 1998 cbr 600
Hey so I got a new bike after having an ex-500 for a year and I cant wait to put some miles on my new ride. It has 19k miles scorpion slip on new pilot road 2 tires and undertail kit. I need to change the brake pads and maybe do a full service and change the oil.

Well, they were the last of the steel frame CBRs and they were so totally sorted .. the CBR really came of age with the F2 in 1991, this bike was then facelifted and given ram air for the F3 in 1995 (FS & FT) which improved response quite a bit but it wasn't until the 1997FV and 1998 FW F3s that things really improved. They altered and improved the ram air system and remapped the ignition timing and a few other tweeks. The result was a bike that had no flat spots anywhere, unlike previous incarnations that could get a bit wheezy around 5,000 rpm ..these latter F3s had good strong responsive power right from the word go and just pulled seamlessly .. I found it a huge HUGE improvement on my old F2 :-)

Thanks for the info jules and classic. Hopefully i get it on the road soon. My dmv trip was terrible they didnt let me register because the sellers signatures didnt match up on the title and another form. also i need brakes badly. Im going to order 3 sets of oem pads. I dont need oth stopping power with my index finger, and my rotors getting chewed up.

19K miles on an eleven-year-old bike works out to about 1700 miles a year! I'll never understand why people get bikes and then just let them sit. But they do, and the result is a lot of very low mileage older bikes coming up for sale. So it's up to you to give this poor, neglected F3 the attention it deserves and get out and ride it.
