Default New guy w a honda

Recently traded my jeep wrangler for a 93 cbr 600 f2.
Vance & Hines SS2 slip on.
Reason to believe I need to clean carbs. Any info on that would be awesome.

Welcome to the forum. Great trade!

Why do you think you need to clean the carbs? At any rate, the f2 section should have plenty of info in there for carb cleaning. It would probably be a good idea to sync the carbs if you plan on taking them off to clean them.

I would also look around for a Haynes manual. They have a lot of useful info on almost anything you would need to do to the bike.

Again, welcome and enjoy! And we love pics here...

Welcome to CBRF! The F2 is a great little bike. Do you know the person well that you traded with? Had it been ridden often? Had it been sitting?

It most definitely could need a good carb cleaning though. Especially with the Ethanol gas nowadays - it could gum things up if the bike had been sitting at all.

Good luck with it!

Welcome!

Jeep or a bike.... Bike wins, everytime.

Unless it's raining.

Thank you all for the responses. I had sat for like 2 years I think. And was in pieces when I got it. It runs and revs to 13k. But under load it seems to lack power. So I changed plugs and gas and want to clean the carbs. But not experienced with disassembling carbs. Bike when idling sounds more like a 4 stroke four wheeler then a sport bike. If I new how to add a video I would show.

Link it through photobucket. If it's not sounding like a normal I-4 motor - it probably has a misfire - which could come from the carbs. If the carbs had been sitting open for 2 years OR hooked up to fuel lines with fuel in them - they definitely need a good cleaning. SB gave you the link - it's not complicated to clean them. Have at it!

Posting a vid for sure would confirm or refute the misfire. Sitting bikes do have these kinds of problems. Usually, they're not a complicated fix at all.
