new guy, new to sportbikes
i picked up a 05 60rr today. i traded in my 04 suzuki volusia 800 for her. this is my first sportbike coming off the cruiser. im 26 years old and have been riding for a little over a year. i guess i just want some opinions, do's/dont's, pro's/cons about the bike i purchased and its modifications, as well as just tips in general crossing over to this kind of bike.
it has a yoshimura exhaust, the rear arms extended, lowered, chrome wheels (1000rr), and 1 horrible paint job. but i plan on getting a new fairing kit by the end of the year. here is the only pic i have, its from the shop in the back of the dealership when we were looking it over.

Congratulations on your move to the Honda.
Don't rest on your arms while riding...keep them loose (you should be able to flap your arms like a chicken).
Support yourself with your legs pressed against the tank
Countersteer (though that is no different from cruisers)
Don't push yourself too hard...or else it will let you know who is boss.
Wear your gear.
The streets aren't race tracks.
and all the other stuff...

Welcome aboard! Hey, thats not a bad looking bike! A diamond in the rough so to speak..... looks like it has a lot of extra's
Checking out all the different sections on this board is a good place to start. The "how to" and "modification" sections are good places to learn. "sights n sounds" has a great sticky with users pics posted of their bikes, its great for getting ideas on mods...
Hope you enjoy your bike!

Welcome sivic
that does look like a wicked ride mate... the paint would look better with a few decals though..
Was a real a good move swapping over to Honda mate ..[sm=goodidea.gif] not that I am bias at all ..
Me personally am not a fan of the jap simulated Harley's
I think both Rod38um and woo545 have started you off with some real good clues to get you going .
have a good time ....

If I ever see Woo coming down the street I'll know it's him cause he'll be flapping like a chicken
Here's a thread discussing some of the kits: https://cbrforum.com/m_635199/tm.htm I'm sure there are others.
And related to the flapping (sorry, I've just got this image of Woo flapping) don't put the Vulcan death grip on the thing. If your hand starts to get tingly or numb you are squeezing too hard. A light touch is all that's needed for 99% of streetriding.
And welcome to the board!

We also have some places around here up in the hills, that require wicked levels of down hill braking into the corners , where I am sure she thinks that I am super man and can hold her back as well as myself .. talk about hand and arm crush!!! the joys of family motoring
No wonder I do try to get the bike out without her as much as I can
