Default New guy geekin' up the place.

Greetings all. I usually don't go into the forum thing; I get lazy about posting. But, the fact that I can talk to other CBR owners about technical issues makes this a necessity. I'm a 600F4i guy, not a road racer or a stuntbiker. (Yeah, I can wheelie. I raced motocross for 10 years so doing a mono on a fat street bike doesn't impress me.)

I grew up on bikes, mostly dirt, but my father owned the local Cagiva/Ducati dealership in my town so even before I rode street, I got to fondle the rocket bike that powered Ducati in the eighties. Funny thing, at the time Ducati was near bankruptcy, we didn't even want the street bikes but were forced to take one in order to get the Cagiva dealership. We never fully uncrated the street bikes.

I am currently working on building a modest, repeat modest, turbo system for the lil' 600 CBR. Personally, I can't seem to find any manufacturer doing much for the under liter crowd. I have a friend who is one of those rare mechanics that can go outside the moto world and pull from all forms of combustion machines to create something for a bike. He has told me of a small turbo for some car I can't think of right now that would work great for a small bike. Just a little boost; just enough to shove more air down the chute in the lower revs. More on this as it develops...

When it comes to bikes, I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. If I prattle on, please forgive. Remember we are all of the same ilk here, and our goal should be to kill gixxers. (GOd I hate it when they call them that)

Toodles for now guys and gals. I'll be around.

I like gixxers, and a lot of other bikes. My goal is to ride well, ride safe and have as much fun as possible when it's right.

Welcome.

Heh. Yourreply is quite PC. I guess, since this is in print, tongue in cheek humor doesn't translate very well. I'm not really a Ford vs. Chevy kind of guy...but I do joke, hence the moniker "dorkbiker."

As far as your goal of "safety," I respect the road and others. But I do run Bark Busters on my bike if any stunt punk wants to wheelie around me in traffic. I figure since the guy is willing to put others at risk because his mommy or daddy didn't love him and he needs attention, I'll give him a little handlebar bump for his efforts.

Again, humor...

Thanks for the reply though. Looking forward to more. Take care on your bike bro, the fourwheelers will kill you if you don't.

Cuz I'm not cool.

Actually, I used to have a skateboard 'zine called "Dorkzine." It all stems form "dork tricks" which are goofy skate tricks you do to make your friends laugh. I was going to make my forum name "dorkrider" but that kinda implies something different altogether. Mostly, I just don't want to be taken to seriously so it's self-deprecation. I see so many guys who ride sport bikes posing "cool," I don't want to be thought of as one of those "crotch rocket guys."

My love for motorcycles is more general than sport bikes...'cept I hate production Harleys.
