Hey there Dookie, I really like those old school CBs. They're making a comeback you know... Can't really articulate on 1st generations, but I'm sure compared to the 550, it'll feel like a bullet. May want to ask in the bike specific sections, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to fill you in.

This is a great place to find out about CBR's ....
Welcome to the CBRF mate ...
When you say "1st gen" , if you mean the first CBR's well then the 600F's and 1000F's are still bloody great bikes ...and lots of good ones are still around to buy ...
Pop into the 600F and F1 boards and maybe if you are game , drop into our 1000F section ...tons and tons of great info about them in there .. plus heaps of really great 1000F members too...
BTW : Need any help around here just PM me :-)

wow well thank you for the information. i should have been more specific yes i was speaking of the cbr 600 and 1000 "hurricane" what i really would want would be a cbr250 or 400rr but since im pretty sure i won't come around one of those around here....
also does any one think that on 1st gen cbr600 i could fit nsr fairings. im just inquiring since i am loving the look of the nsr. any information would be a great deal of help. thank you very much.
