Hello all, picked up a 1990 CBR 600F as a project bike to get running over the winter. 2 photos from before I started and the last one is where it’s at after 2 weeks of having it. I just got the engine put together and started working on the cosmetics.
Looks like a whole lot of fun right there! Take some time and clean/lube the cables while you have it in that state - I didn't bother for 20 years but afterward I wished I'd done it far more often.
Hi folks I’m a new member and proud new owner of a 1992 CBR600f
it’s very original except for the micron exhaust.
id like some advice on what to look for or replace before I put it on the road.
there’s been a fair amount of work done by the previous owner…
new chain and sprockets
new tyres
refurbed and powder coated wheels
any advice would be well received
Seriously though, if you can be bothered - change the brake fluid, oil and coolant, and lube the cables. That's pretty much it.
It looks great - a true survivor!
thanks for that, yeah I have some time on my hands before I put it on the road so I’ll do all the things you mentioned and maybe throw a set of plugs in it too.
Do you have any experience on NGK iridium plugs?
I think they may just last longer but I’m not sure?
My first set of NGK iridiums lasted for 20 years and 30,000 miles - I replaced them because I did a coil-on-plug conversion, no other reason - they still look great.
