Default My first ride...

As i have introduced myself here before, I have a 2000 CBR200f4(my first bike). So, today was the first time i rode it . CRAZY POWER & i have mad respect for this Honda's machine. So, as soon as i got on the bike, testosterone took over and i became a mad man trying to go the fastest i could in streets. But luckily within 5 minutes i realized thats not why i bought this monster and decided to stay in first gear until i master its ultra sensitive throttle and master slow speed turns using friction zones. Surprisingly i was able to control myself to stay in 1st for whole 30 minutes!

So far i absolutely love the bike, but there are few things that caught my attention, first the temp gauge was a little above half way (it stayed there and didn't go up and fan was working) so i wanted to know if thats normal for F4s. Another thing, the bike was stored over the winter, so i had to boost it to start and even after i rode it for 30 min, battery was still totally dead. while it was idling on the driveway, i pressed the brake lever without reving it, brake light came on and bike stalled within 3 sec. Tried to start it again, but battery was so dead that even the neutral light very dim, so does that mean i should change the battery because 30 minute should be enough to charge!

It's a cheap investment to replace the battery. I would, why wait for a stranding to deal with it.

As far as heat, if you are riding in 1st a lot, your bike IS going to heat up. Think, "idleing in traffic". Sounds like everything is fine if the temp stabilized in the zone. Without the air-flow from riding at speed, the bike just isn't as efficent at shedding that heat. I'm willing to bet that, if you accelerate to 30-40 mph for a few moments the temp drops immediately.

Glad you got the beserkerang out of the way quickly, you'll be posting with us a LOT longer with your second approach. ;-)
