Default Maximum safe weight for two

Hi Everyone, this is my first ever post! I'm just wanting a bit of help and advice please. My husband had a 1988 CBR years and years ago which i used to happily ride pillion on when i was much lighter. Long story short, we sold the bike, had a family, family now grown up and left. So here we are, 30 years later wanting to get back to it. I've bought us a 1993 CBR600F2 as hubby prefers on older bike. He's been out a few times and he now wants me to go too. Now to my main worry! I have put on a hell of a lot of weight in 30 years, i'm border lining 18 stone ( 252 pounds ) hubby is 12 stone ( 168 pounds ) Now, this is a work in progress, i've lost 1 and half stone and still dropping. I have all the gear ready. My question is: is it safe for me to go out with hubby, can the bike take the weight? Or should i wait until i'm lighter. Please no jokes

I would wait until you're lighter. Supporting 250 pounds is a lot to ask of the tiny rear subframe. Have you considered getting your own bike or stepping up to a larger bike that is designed specifically for tandem riding?

1st, no judgment here from any of us. A high percentage of us on the forum have lived a good life and said goodbye to our thinner, younger selves a long time ago.
I do agree with 74Demon. I would wait a little while as you continue your weight loss journey (great job on your progress) or a bike of your own sounds like a great option to me.
