New boy dropping in to say hi.
I am a 50 year old former retired Police motorcyclist who now investigates motorcycle accidents for a living. I was pensioned off early as a result of being left crippled after an accident at work on the bike, but that doesn't stop me wracking up about 40,000 miles a year which is down from the 100,000 a year I used to do.
In addition to investigating bike accidents, I am also an advanced riding examiner and instructor, a qualified CBT and DAS instructor and I am one of the people responsible for setting the questions for the motorcycle theory test, although I am not employed by the DSA.
I was involved in writing the current edition of Roadcraft the Police riders manual, I sit on various committees relating to motorcycle clothing as I have specialised knowledge in this field (which many manufacturers do not like to hear) and I act as a consultant to overseas bodies on riding issues as well.
To top it all I work for a law firm (which I am not here to plug by the way) and I do a lot of presentations to various riding clubs and organisations on areas ranging from accidents to advanced riding to any other area in motorcycling. (If anyone belongs to a group and would like a presentation, please feel free to PM me)
Suffice to say my working life and social life evolve mainly around motorcycles which many might consider to be perfect, but it does entail long hours and a lot of travelling, which suits me.
So, I look forward to being a member of this site, and if I can assist anyone whether it be just answering questions or being of more praqctical help, then I look forward to it.
As a by the by, I am on my third Blackbird having done over 100,000 on my previous 2 from new, maybe it is getting time for a change.
