Default Hello from Silicon Valley, CA

Hi,

Just checking back in after not having really looked at the forum since 2007! I have a stock 1998 Red/Black 600F3 that I bought new in 1998. It's been my one and only bike, now with 48,000 miles on it. It so old, it's becoming a classic. But it's still in good shape and it runs well. I've had so few issues with it, I haven't had to visit the forum for solutions. The only things I've problems with are a voltage regulator that's been replaced a few times, and turn signals that are reluctant to work in cold weather. With a family, the only rides I've been doing are 40 mile round trip commutes to work. Still riding in 30 degree weather this week. I guess I'll just keep riding it and riding it and see how many miles it can go. It's easy to lust over sexy bikes, but I wonder if a Ducati can withstand a day-after-day commute duty without issues?

Welcome dude! You still ride in 30 degree weather? Also, California gets down to 30 degrees F? I live in Michigan and it is about 20 degrees and after reading your blog, I wanted to go ridin, but after steppin outside, I changed my mind. Good for you bro for riding in 30 degree weather. 40 is my limit.

Welcome back!

No doubt it's been cold. That arctic cold is even getting to us in SoCal. It's not as bad as the east coast, but it's still pretty low for us. Good for you to still be riding in it.

Welcome back to CBRF... Riding in 30 degree weather is not for the faint of heart... Traction gets sketchy in freezing weather...

Well it's only that cold early in the morning. It gets up to the 50's during the day. It's dry and fine if you bundle up.

Welcome to back to the forum! I had an f3 - back in the day. They are one beast of a bike. I think modern Ducatis (post 998) are very reliable nowadays. But I'll tell you this much - you won't be as comfy, and you'll feel worse putting that expensive of a bike into the sub-par weather you're riding in now.

Modify your F3!

Welcome to back the CBR Forum,

It's good to still own a bike you have had from new.

Cheers, SB
