Default Hello from NC

Hi everyone, giving a bit of history on myself...I rode for about 4 years in my late teens and early 20's. Later, I met my wife and started having kids so there goes my bike and a great deal of my fun lol. I have been fighting the battle to talk her into agreeing to buying another bike ever since. Finally, after a bit over 9 years, I have a nice new (to me) '98 F3 and I'm getting reacquainted with my long lost love of 2 wheeled vehicles. I'm going about it the right way, though. I took the MSF basic course to reorient myself, passed with flying colors. Taking a bit of time to learn the bike. My last bike was a ZX9R, but as anyone knows, all bikes ride differently. I have all my gear, full leathers, gauntlet gloves, touring boots, helmet and will never get on the street without wearing all of it. I can say this much at least. When I was younger, I did many track days, rode wheelies and did most of the stuff squids are known for. Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with stunt riders as long as it's done in a controlled environment, but if you want to do it on the street, please wait til I'm out of the way lol. I guess at 31 years old, I've just grown into a different mindset. Glad to be here and hope to have a long and fruitful stay.

Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you've grown up a bit. Kids and a wife will do that to a guy, and really for the better. It will help keep you alive longer...
Good luck with the "new" bike and have fun!

I'm in Kannapolis, just a bit north of Charlotte, NC. 74Demon, you are exactly right, my wife and kids did exactly that. now, the task comes to teaching my kids how to ride safely. I want them to have just as much fun as I have over the years, though maybe not with the huge stroke of idiocy that I am now surprised I lived through, lol. At least then, the kids will have a parent on their side for that argument and my wife will know I will do everything in my power to teach them to be safe and responsible riders.

My post isn't up yet, I guess from being a new member or I would simply edit it. I noticed in your sig that you used to have a 91 GSXR 1100, Demon. Those were awesome bikes. I had a 95...I know, most people say those aren't "true" GSXR's due to not being the old oil cooled versions which were state of the art for their time, but it was fully built for drag race use. 1250 big bore kit and set up for nitrous though I never had reason to attach the bottle to it. I only wish I had never went to the 43mm carbs before deciding for a definite on the nitrous. It always ran a bit rich. Still, the bike never once failed to scare the **** out of me. I guess that's a good thing, though because it kept me from being an idiot with it. I really miss that bike, but it wouldn't do me any good these days anyway. Too much bike for how I ride these days.

Yes, they were king at the time. They were solid, great looking bikes. Mine wasn't as built as yours, but still scary fast. Looking back, they we dogs compared to the bikes of today. I don't really miss it, I'm way more in love with my 929. It will blow that old gsxr away, and carve canyons like it was made for it...oh, wait, it was! She's not as quick or nimble as the newer REs, but she can hold her own.

As far as your posts not showing up, you're still in moderation. Which means a moderator, like me, needs to physically approve your posts. Once you get a few under your belt, an administrator will fully approve you and your posts will show instantly. We are all real people with real lives, sometimes it takes a bit for things to happen. Make sense?

Oh, edit your location in your control panel. That way all those NC guys will find you.

Let me know if you have forum questions. My pm box is open.

I took your advice and edited my profile info and also put up a pic of my bike for my profile pic. It hasn't shown up yet, but I'm not concerned, it will. As far as my posts not showing up, I wasn't worried about it, I figured it was just a matter of an admin approving my member status. I just hate having to bug you guys over and over to approve my posts while I wait for everything to go through. As far as being able to PM, I'm not sure if I'm just missing something, or if it has to do with still being on "probation" but I haven't been able to find a link to PM anyone. That's actually the only reason I didn't send this via PM instead of as a post. I don't want to seem like a spammer in any way lol.

Welcome CBRF KM!

74demon has you on the right track. Hang in there. You'll be GTG.

Congrats on getting your F3. Kudos for taking the MSF as well. You sound like you def have the mature & safety mindset for being a responsible rider (& parent). ;-)

Good to have you w/ us. :-)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm hoping for a long enjoyable stay. Seems like a really good group of people here and I hope to ride with some of you in the future after I get a few miles of my own on my bike to get to know her. This is my first Honda and so far I'm really kicking myself for waiting this long. Honestly, as far as the bike is concerned, I really like some of the newer bikes, but I love the older style bikes that I started riding on. Something about most of the newer bikes screams "industrial" to some extent, but the older bikes were all graceful curves. Gotta love the retro.
