Hello from Chicago!
Hello everyone, just found this forum while doing some googling at work. I'm from the Chicago area, members of Chicagolandsportbikes.com, 2wheelchicago.com, and Chicagoriders.com and just recently joined 1000rr.net after the recent purchase of my first Honda (motorcycle). Been riding for 2 seasons now, mostly on my old 2000 ZX-6R which I sold this fall to be replaced with my new 2006 CBR 1000RR. Here's my new bike thread I posted on my other forum. Enjoy!
So as of Sunday I was in possession of my new form of 2-wheeled entertainment.
I purchased a 2006 Honda 1000RR with 4500 miles on it. It's all black and is basically stock. Integrated rear signals, LED front signals, PCIII, Galfer SS lines up front and included SS clutch line as well, and white LED gauges (instead of the Honda orange). I rode it a little bit right after it was dropped off yesterday morning and rode it in the snow last night to the store. It's going to take some getting used to the shape of the bike over my old Ninja, but so far I love it! Here's some pics from right after delivery.
The original owner had the passenger pegs taken off so I think those will stay off until I can get them powder coated black. I want to get the levers, rearsets, and passenger pegs done and I think I can get that done through a member on the other board. Also, I want to get the swing arm done. Does anyone one have a good way to keep the back of the bike supported while having the swingarm off for a while? I plan on putting the SS clutch lines on this winter too, and trying to decide if I should do the rear brake lines in SS as well. Will probably do heated grips if I can find some good ones for it. Any other suggestions would be welcome!!
Thanks for checking it out, and thanks again to the guys who showed up in the cold to help me give this bike a good once over when I first started looking!
