Default Hello all from Canada

Hello everyone,,,my name is Laurence (Laurie) Potter and I bought last month my first bike in 14 years. Kind of small but it sure is fun to ride,,,a CBR 125 R. My last 2 bikes were a 91 GSXR 750 and before that a 86 GSXR 750 (new). I found this site while searching for 125 stuff. Cheers and ride safe. L.P.

Out here in western Canada the riding season just ended due to snow. Here's hoping you guys get to ride a bit longer than we did.

Actually the guys at work called me Harry all the time. Now I am retired from Michelin Tire (factory worker,30 + years) and enjoying some riding. My son Cale,, is sometimes called Harry when he plays Base Ball. Today is a decent day so I will go out for a scoot.. Where are you from? Thanks for all the greetings, I am sure we will all be "talking " soon. L.P.

Welcome to CBRF, Harry!
The 125R is a cool bike. Like hondajunkie said, we don't get them here. They look like a lot of fun, though.

Good to have you here, and enjoy the ride!

Thanks Junkie! actually I have had in the past a few bikes that were not allowed in the States(at that time),, 82 RD350 LC- 83 RZ 350. These bikes are the 2 that I miss the most(kick my butt that I still don`t have them). The 82 had some mods,,,rejetted(leaner),heavier fork oil with spacers on springs, modified reed block with Boysen Reeds. My bike would top out at 10,500 RPM(10,00 redline)in high gear at 200 KMS per Hour(120 MPH) God how I loved it. The 83 had YPVS (Power valve) the same mods and would pike up the front wheel in 3rd gear!! So the 125 R sure doesn`t have the power but the weight(lighter than the Yamaha`s) and handles pretty well the same. I am 52 and grin like a school boy when I ride it. Sometime I may pick up another Yamaha 350 I will keep my eyes out. My 125 R is new and when I figure out how to post pics I will put some up. Thanks again. L.P.

Welcome to the forum! There are a few of us Canadians here as well as riders from around the world. I am restoring an 83 RZ350 as well as a couple of old Hurricanes.
I've been seriously checking out the 125 as a commuter.

If your commute is entirely on city streets then I'm sure it would be great. My commute is mostly highway/freeway and our ZZR 250 was just working way too hard at higher speeds. It needed to rev so high to keep up with traffic that gas mileage wasn't much better than my 'cane, which of course is loafing at those speeds

The 125 would be working even harder than the ZZR, it's not unusual to have a 40 kph headwind here which would require it to be pretty much maxed out to match a 130kph traffic flow.
