Welcome to the board! I can say that repairing the carnage yourself will give you a whole new appreciation for your bike. Just remember that even if you become a track day superstar the street is unpredictable (can you say sand, leaves and oil in a blind curve?). So in that vein my only advice is to slow a bit before entering the curve. But be confident in your equipment so that if you should hit the apex hot you can push those bars and maintain throttle and use the virgin parts of your tires

And I guess nobody told you, but we're gonna require some pics of your ride dude. It's kinda of like mandatory ... sort of

Howdy from another "old" guy. I love the surprised faces on these young guys when I zip past them at trackdays on my old 2000 F4. There was a young kid (about 20) that was trying his best to catch up to me at my last trackday at Willow Springs. I knew he was back there but on he could only catch up w/ me a little on the straights. Wearing a dark smoke shield on my helmet, he had no idea what I looked like. Anyway, we had a great track session but he never caught up. He rode over to my pit area to say hello. When I took off my helmet, he was surprised at my age & said, "dude, how old are you?" I said, "old enough to be your daddy." He was surprised that he couldn't catch up w/ me on his new '08 CBR vs my old well-used '00 F4. I told him that its all technique & experience, not age or new bike necessarily.

Hang in there my friend. Age doesn't have to be a deterrent w/ body or mind in the motorcycling game.

I'm attaching a pic of this "old guy" riding at one of my most favorite mountains in the entire world.
