Default fng from Hawaii

Back in the saddle after a bit of time away from bikes. Just picked up a 93 CBR900RR in rough shape as a project bike.

A little background on me: Been riding sportbikes since my early 20's. Raced locally where I was a former club champion, and twice honored "Rider of the Year". Also did a couple endurance races with WERA including the 24hrs of Willow Springs.

Now I'm looking to repair/update this old CBR and have some fun

Welcome back! From your resume, sounds like you will have some good advice for others. Post up pics of the bike when you get a chance. Most of us can't resist a good resto-thread!

Sounds like you know your way around a bike! Welcome to CBRF! I hope you get that 900rr up and ready quick. I'm sure you have some pics of the new bike and pics from your racing days - we'd love to see them!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Picked up the bike today. I was surprised it wasn't in rougher shape. All the panels are there and in reasonable shape for a 20yr old sportbike(can't believe it's that old!).

Fuel pump is bad, petcock leaks, manifolds(rubber) are cracked. Tires are original replacement Bridgestone Battlax. 48k miles, which seems like a lot, but given the overall condition of the bike I'll assume it runs ok.

Well that's one way to get 'er up in the air. Haha. It does look like a very nice bike. I hope the petcock issue isn't too serious. It's not leaking from where it seals with the tank is it? That would suck to have issues with a tank that looks so nice. Very clean bike

The petcock itself is leaking pretty badly so I ordered an new one along with a new fuel pump and clutch cable. The front brakes seem to be dragging a bit so off they come tomorrow to see if I need to rebuild them.
I'm also looking around locally for an F3/F4 front wheel so I can put some decent rubber on it.

Now that I have this bike I'm kind of neglecting my other almost finished project:
