Default First time Rider, getting feet wet with CBR!

Hey there, I'm a new rider that started riding in October, 2012 and I bought my first love in November. A 2002, F4i that I call "Ginger" as that was her original coat, Racing Red.

I've since repainted her (rattle can, but it came out clean) as the previous two owners low-sided with her and didn't bother cleaning up the damage which even extended to a bent tacometer mount, broken clutch pedal, and a busted fork spring seal.

I'm in Los Angeles and I've been starting to get comfortable enough to hit some canyons and will probably hit up my first one this weekend with my roommate.

Always looking for more advice on what to do to perfect my ride as well as how to make sure that Ginger is running smoothly.

Welcome to the CBR Forum SDM,

And welcome to the world of two wheels. Do post some pictures of your bike when you can, and there are quite a few LA members who you may snag for a ride in the canyons.

Take it easy out there

Cheers, SB

my advice is just ride at YOUR pace. thats the easiest (and least painful) way of getting faster - or better at riding.

welcome to CBRF. glad you joined up.

that's a funny nickname for your bike - nice

Tried to post some pics but looks like my account is still in the Moderation queue to get added. Once i get added I'll post them. Right now I've successfully repainted (rattle can) everything but the tank from Red to White. So "ginger" is now kinda doesn't apply.

Yeah, just have to get a few posts up and then you'll be ok. Don't sweat it too much the Mods are good guys.

Welcome to the forum and two wheels.
Your life will never be the same. Now you have another reason to hate rainy days!

So Ginger went white....So what, she's still Ginger under the white dress. (aren't they all )

Take it easy up in the hills there. Don't feel pressured to ride above your skill level. But try to relax and just have fun, those are some great roads.
