Default First bike

Hey all, i picked up my first bike last week, a 2001 F4i with trailer for about 1,200 but it has a reconstruct title. I checked it out and it all seemed good only thing i could really see wrong with it is cracked fairings. i'm gonna rip it down to frame this winter and see if i can actually find anything wrong with it. I live in alaska and it seems that whenever a car gets in an accident they put a reconstruct title on it. i'll post pic's up when i get a chance

good looking bike, think about ditching that tank bra if your tank looks OK under it, it will only cause you problems in the future. How about a tank slapper instead.

just my.02c

How would it cause problems in the future? If its a targa it would only protect the tank as long as you follow the guidelines.

Sweet looking bike and great price. The trailer itself is probably worth the price you paid. Depending on local title laws, a bike can be "salvaged" or "reconstruct" for just about anything. Did you ask the seller why the title was compromised? A lot of states will allow you to do a title search (similar to a carfax history report) that will show you when it was first registered without a clear title. If you can't get in touch with the seller, this maybe the best way to find out what you're getting yourself into before you start your tear down and run into problems.

As long as you take it off when it gets wet under it you'll be OK. But I've also seen it before cause uneven fading even when great care is taken.
