Default Debating on What to Buy...New Guy

I want everyone's opinion please. I am in the midst of purchasing my first bike.. i've had quads and ridden dirtbikes for years and ridden plenty of friend's crotch rockets, but now i want one of my own.

I can either, get a 2006 leftover Silver CBR 600 RR for 9000 OTD with the 5 yr. warranty and such
or I found a 2004 CBR 1000RR on ebay with 850 miles on it for 7500.

i know, many will say go with the 600 but i can handle both, i like how the Honda's have the smooth powerband which is why i am not so worried about ridding as opposed to the R1's and GSXR's that HIT a bit harder, but could be more intimidating to ride at first.

Suggestions?! Also... debating whether it is really worth paying that extra premium to go new as opposed to buying used...??

Generally you'll save a lot of money getting a well-maintained used bike. But definitely check it out in person before making an offer.

Research how much more the big bike will cost to insure.

actually the insurance on the 1000RR will be a bit cheaper because it is used and an older model year. so... i dont know what to do.

if its my first bike, im taking the 600...i dont want to be the guy who goes down because "he thought" he could handle a bigger bike, i mean no disrespect nor am i criticizing your riding abilities, but i would personally take the 600

other advantage I see to 600's is they're a competitive track bike, if you ever felt the need to go to the track.

600 is the way to go. More power than you will ever need

You should inspect the bike before you buy it so using ebay might be a bad choice. I am sure you can search for and find a bike close to you that you can test before buying. Wouldn't want to buy a bike and find out when it gets here it has a cracked frame.
