Cbr600 f2 1991 "no start"
My bikes neutral light is not coming on and she won't start even with kickstand up and clutch in. When I turn on key all instruments light up except green nuetral. When I push start button with kill switch selector on "run" I get nothing but a dimming of instruments? I checked continuity at neutral switch and it's good. Checked main 30amp main fuse , it's good. I had been in accident and cowling / fairings were destroyed so all were removed awaiting replacement parts and bike was outside in weather naked & uncovered for about a month during which time 2 very light rains occurred? Possible short? Also blinkers and removed bare wires exposed but touching nothing. Any ideas for remedy are much appreciated THANKS
You already metioned the run/stop switch, but if that one is failing it shuts down the intrumentcluster too.
Also you might be looking at multiple problems.
On my bike the lamp only goes on if the control module receives all the conditions for being in neutral.
Another thing that pops to mind is whether your bike has an electronic key identifier. If that fails you might very well have an issue with key recognition.
However I would start (no fun intended) with getting the neutral lamp functioning.
good luck

92 didn't have any key recognition stuff. Very basic starting circuit. You need to see if the start switch is actually working. It has 2 functions. Provide a ground for the start relay and turn off power to the headlights. Start switches on these bikes go bad often.
After checking the neutral saftey switch for continuity which was good , I checked the 30amp main fuse, which was good. Next I checked the kickstand safety switch which was good. Finally I checked the clutch safety switch located on the handle bars for continuity which with the handle either actuated or open will give two different readings i.e. continuity in one position and none in the other. Well I had continuity in both indicating failure. I was able to jump the two leads on the switch which started the bike at least proving to this point i was headed in the right direction. Going to reassemble bike as I'm in the middle of a complete fairing and cowl replacement. I'll keep you posted and thanks for the support
