Im going to fill this with black putty

Can anyone advise please, I have some deep scratches on my right hand fairing, i tried the sand them out a bit before i fill them. The fairing is standard gloss black with the red stickers but what i wanted to know is do i need to paint the fairing gloss black or does the plastic itself need buffing and lacquering?
