can I run a bigger raer tire on my 2002 cbr 600
Hello , folks, just got my first bike 02 cbr 600 f4i. I do have a question on weather I can put a 190/ 50 17 tire on the bike being stock I know it is suppose to have 180/ 55 17. can someone help me with this issue? thanks[X(]
first off, welcome to the site. as for the tire issue, a 190 will more than likely fit onto your rim. hell a 200 might even fit. but i would definately recommend against either one. if your bike came factory with a 180 then that is what i would continue to use. the bike is meant to perform the best when using the stock size tire. your steering would be slower and your tire wear would be uneven. if you are not an aggressive rider and you only want the bigger tire for the look, then it would be ok. but then again who buys a sportbike to cruise around on just to look cool. just my totally biased one sided thoughts.
Hello & welcome to the forum tman2.
Nine2nine isn't bias, he's educated. Using a tire that is bigger than the rim calls for is not good. You don't even get the full width of the larger tire because you're squeezing it on the rim. Then you're reducing your contact pad and really messing things up.
No doubts about it, stick with the 180.
