Beginner looking at R2 125cc
hi im a new member and i dont have a bike yet but my bro has 7 bikes. first off let me name them before anyone gets off and starts asking. he got a 03 gsxr and 07 gsxr, also 04 r1 and 06 r1, also has ducati 999, a 04 cbr600rr and also same year 1000rr. my bro loves bikes and im trying to get one of his bikes. he wont let me and told me to get a beginner bike and when i learn i can get one of his. so i was looking at the r2 125cc cuhz it looks the most like a cbr.
just need some advice whether or not its a good bike because the cbr125 is not all that great looking. i will try to get pics of my bro bikes when i come over to his house.
p.s. he has more bikes but they are pretty old and under covers so i cant recognize them. they go along the lines of like a couple of r6, cbr600rr, gsxr. his first couple bikes that are pretty messed up now.

It sounds like your Brother is looking out for you. Ride whatever he lets you, make sure you have a helmet that fits you well. Don't worry about if the 125 isn't that great looking, the clutch, brakes and gears are all you should care about. Don't crash it or be unsafe and maybe in a few months your brother will let you try one of the bigger bikes. He sounds like he wants you to learn at a slow pace and not get hurt in the the process, that is what a big brother does.

Take it slow, and you'll be happy you did. Go too fast, and you'll wish you didn't. The 125 will work fine as a starter bike, so would a Ninja 250 or that Hyosung gt250r. I've not talked to him, but there a guy, a squid sadly, that rides one of those Hyosungs that I see ride around town alot. They really do look like modern 600's, and people who don't know anything about bikes won't know any different. Though I'd take off the "gt250r" sticker personally. Anyways... he seems to like it and it gets him around.
Personally, for my first STREET bike, I got a Honda Rebel. It's a 250cc "cruiser" style bike. Learned so much on that thing that I can't even BEGIN to tell you how much I appreciated having it before I got my new CBR. (Dirt bike and Trials bike riding only gets you so far) Hope that helps guide your decision, and tell your bro he's a cool guy for lookin' out for ya!
