Another New guy!
Hello all! Just registered after browsing for a few days around the forum. Picked up a 2000 600 F4 on a partial trade for my Mustang on Tuesday. Shes my first bike and I just got my permit this afternoon to clock some hours of riding with a few buddies under my belt. Ive ridden a few dirt bikes years ago so I have the concept down but was told street was going to be way different experience.
I am originally from Georgia (near Savannah). I grew up an Army brat, graduated and joined myself for 12 years. 5 years ago my wife joined as well and was injured in Afghanistan. The Army medically discharged her and we decided to try civilian life. So, we left Ft campbell KY and instead of moving back south, we chose to move to Western Michigan near family for little over a year now.
Ive already been linked up with a local shop thats going to do a full service on her a long with a few other things beginning of next week. Ive already ordered a few things from Revzilla and got some info on a few Speed shops a little distance away that I am going to visit tomorrow for better gear. I have yet to give it my full detailing since I got her but anxious to get it done in the morning and snap a few pics. Heres from the night I brought her home.
A friend of mine went with me to inspect it and check everything out. There's a few things the previous owner has done to it.
Billet shorty brake and clutch levers
D&D Full Stainless Exhaust
Jets re-tuned
Flush mount turn signals
Intergrated LED tail light
Fender eliminator Kit
Thrust Company 520 Chain
Thrust Company -1 Front Sprocket
Thrust Company +2 Rear Sprocket
and 600 Miles on New Dunlop Q2 Dual.
The list will continue as I get more familiar with her and around the community. It not like going from an Import to a Mustang like I did. Things are much more different now...LoL I'm by no means new to the forum scene but definitely new to the Bike scene! Thanks in advance for the welcomes!

Welcome to our bike forum!
That's a nice bike you picked up. Hopefully the riding season will stay with you a bit longer...
Why take it to a shop for basic servicing? Most service, repairs, and mids are fairly easy and straight forward. Don't waste your money. Besides, working on the bike will help you learn the bike and help in recognising problems before they become major issues. This is a very active forum with very helpful members to guide you through your repairs. All you need to do is ask.

Thanks guys for making me feel welcome. Shes real peppy thats for sure.
What I was meaning was, having an intense inspections done, as well as valves, carbs and the basic service ie; oil/air filter change. I want to be 100% sure that shes top notch before I hit the road for some riding time. I don't have a service/owners manual yet, and a few friends said theyd show me around the bike but not that extensive that I want. Im only 5'6 (1/2), so a shorty and can only tip toe on it now. I was reading how when lowering it my screw with the handling but a 1 inch drop shouldnt, and would make a big difference for me. So, thats getting done on tuesday. I have this weekend off and I plan in digging more into the F4 section to get to know more about her.
Pics after I detailed her just now!

Yeah I got it with the bike, and it fits...LoL I cleaned the pads but am missing the chin curtain. Ive searched everywhere and cant find even a full set let alone by itself. Also ordered the Icon Silver Proshield, loved how that looked on the helmet...LoL
