Exclamation Am I too big for a CBR600?

Hey guys, this is my first post here as I am hoping to find some answers to my questions! I am 6'4 and I weigh about 240 lbs. I was wondering if I was too tall/heavy for a CBR600 and if I am, what would be the best bike for me?

I also have a wonderful girlfriend who I would love to bring along on some rides. She weighs about 125 lbs, I believe. Now if you add that together, that is around 365 pounds...Is there some way to strengthen the bike, such as the suspension?

Anyways, any help would be highly appreciated as I am a very serious buyer! Thanks!

You wont be too heavy for the bike, you just might feel cramped on it due to height. As for power, you'll be fine. I'm 210lb myself and I have an F2, which still keeps up with most any other 600. Now, what year were you looking at? The newer RR's will be smaller and more hunched over then the F - series (F4i, F4, F3, F2), which also have a larger seat, being more comfortable for a passenger.

As for the suspension, there are adjusters on it, so you can firm it up in the event that you squish through the travel.

Is this your first bike? If so... Take a course. And learn to ride well before you start throwing a passenger on there, as even an older 600 will still pull a 0-100km/h time in the mid 3 to low 4 second range.

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, this will be a first bike for me, I'm thinking of late 1990's to early 2000's. I won't be able to afford the insurance on the newer CBR600RR, it's a killer! And even with it being an older bike, the insurance is still like $900.00 a month up here in Canada.

I figured there was something to adjust the suspension, so thanks for getting that out of the way as well!

$900 a month? If this is simply because you're in Ontario... time to get out!! I'm in Edmonton myself, I pay about 50 a month. Seriously $50.00. This is me being almost 30 and having a 94 600.

Hell yeah guys, up here in Ottawa it's $900 a month...Rediculous eh? Anyone know of any way to get some really low insurance? Because these are all from online Quotes, not from actually calling up the company. Is there a way to get liability only or somethin'?

Anyways, thanks guys!

Ontario is terrible - find a bike not on the black list!!!

A FZ6, a 599... anything but a sport bike. You'll save so much money. It isn't worth it. Seriously. I got offered a job up there, and turned it down when i found out how bad the insurance was. It was cheaper for me to make this bike track only and buy a NEW bike - than have insurance on this one.

At your height and weight, I feel you're too big for a 600.
Add the extra 125 for the pillion...............................no way
I have a friend who is your height and weight, and he bought a 600.............
He kept it for 1 week because he couldn't keep up with the lighter weight guys
If you're looking for something comfortable which will take you both, and still be fast enough in the twisties with your friends, consider a CBR1000F. Older now, sure, but still capable of 155MPH speeds, and will run from most 600's at the top end.Cheaper insurance too.
