hey everyone im new here. bought a 87 cbr600 f1 2 weeks ago and cdi was bad on it so looking for one. i have fallen in love with this motorcycle and heard great things about the cbr's. i was just wondering if a cdi from an 87 cbr1000f would work with a cbr600f. look forward to hearing from someone. really want to get this back up and running before winter finally hits.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
As Wheelnut says, maybe ask your question in the F1 section, should get some answers there.

Ouch, rough on the distance. May be worth the trip though if you can call around and see what kind of inventory they have. Honestly, there are some salvage yards located around the country that are pretty decent if you just give them a call. They may be able to tell you whats up. I understand your frustration though. Sometimes its better to talk to a person. Hell, maybe even somone here can help you. Check out the F1 section. Other than that welcome and hope you love the bike when you get it up and running. F1's are amazing. Cheers.

Welcome to CBRF! What part of IL are you from?
I would imagine that even if a CDI off of a 1000f were plug-and-play, you probably wouldn't want it. You'd lose a lot of revs, which is what the CDI controls, because of the increased stroke of the bigger engine.
I buy parts solely off eBay, and I've never really had an issue. When you do get something that doesn't work, you can file a claim and get your money back. Considering how sparse motorcycle salvage yards are in the US, your only options are eBay, CL, the forums, or the dealer. I wouldn't hesitate to go with ebay again. There are multiple sellers on there with extensive feedback to give you more peace-of-mind.
