Angry Why do they try to kill us?

Hey guys. Took a quick run into town this morning for a movie and a couple of provisions. doing an indicated 110kph, due to the 'Sunday drivers' and cops out in force, what do I suddenly see coming towards me in my lane? A 4WD who's driver decided to overtake three cars at once! My bike's honda red at the front and has twin halogen lights blazing away. I was correctly positioned to allow oncoming traffic the best view of me (the left over here) and still the ******** didn't see me.

I braked hard and went down 3 gears just in case I needed warp power to get me out of trouble. Just as he passed me he was cutting back into his lane. I had an escape route if I needed it and had time to flip him a massive, and very vigorous 'bird'. The ***** didn't even look at me! Everybody f#cks up sometimes and all it takes is a wave to say "sorry I nearly killed you, made your wife a widow and your two kids without a Dad because I'm a blind, mindless c#ck head". His family were all looking so he looked a real **** in front of them.

It wasn't even close as I've been there a dozen times before, as I'm sure most of you have, but made me rather cross...something I try to avoid these days.

Anyway, it's Sunday arvo now so i might crack a home brew and watch the movie...it better be good too.

Thanks mate. Once again, my old man's advice when I started riding which went something like "ride as if they're all trying to kill you!" stood me in good stead.

There was a safety campaign in the old country when I was there which stated "look once, look twice, think bike". WTF is so hard about that? In my younger days I'd have chucked a u turn, chased the f#cker and tried to get him to pull over so we could discuss our different interpretations of the road rules. Now I'm an so that sort of **** is out of the question...mostly.

A guy pulled over from the fast lane, (right side, two lanes)hard on the brakes, into the emergency lane (here on the left) right in front of me on Friday. I had to hit the brakes and turn at the same time, as he kept coming - eventually I was able to outbrake him, but the rear end of the 1000F was skipping at that stage.
I stopped next to him and flat handed his driver's window - scared the crap out of him (which is what he'd just done to me)
I dunno where some of them get their licences, I swear.
Changed underwear when I got home, and had to use a litre of water to get my *** to unstick from the seat - talk about ringflutter
Glad you're OK Dave.

That's crazy man. I'd probably been a lot worse then that too him.

I always pay attention to bikers. One thing I don't appreciate are bikers who think they own the road. I had a group of Harley bikers who pulled out of a side road on the right side of the road pulling to the same way I was going. I was in the far left lane close to the middle lane. I was in the right away and they pulled out basically right beside me and then started cussin at me and giving me the finger. A few got In front of me and behind me. Wound up getting in the center lane to turn left at a light. One guy rolled up beside me asking what my f'ing deal was. Needless to say I was a mad SOB and told him what I thought. Bunch of older Harley guys thinking they were a bunch of hardasses. They are lucky I didn't run them over.

It seems that this happens too frequently of late.I have a tendency to cover a lot of ground on my weekend rides but of late every time I go out there is an idiot testing my "dodgeball" skills. It doesnt seem to matter if I am cruising along or jamming some idiot wants to pass unsafely or will cut me off. I want to believe they just cannot judge the bikes speed and or position, I really dont want to accept they just dont care. the most memorable of late and the incident where I relly wanted to discuss at the side of the road was me coming uphill, lots of long curves in the passing lane (left) and the dummy cuts me off. I'm at speed and passing everything and he just pulls out of a line of cars right in front of me. He then realises that even on lockdown I'm on his tail, I flip him off and HE gets pissy !The only solution I have guys, that will keep me out of jail is to stay aware around them.they really dont conceive that we are real ,have families, and are just enjoying ourselves. It's BS and I remember days I would have ball bearing'ed a car without a thought, but thats over. Just be watchful...and let it go. I'm REALLY trying to be good Lord.....

LS1Tuner..I have a funny one for ya. I rode with a group of "cruiser" guys one weekend. I think of 10 bikes there may have been one HD but the rest were acting like they were Hells Angels. So what they would do when we had to cross or enter a road is one pull out into the lane stop traffic so the others could all go. Kinda the way motorcycle escorts do a funerals. Keeping in mind they are doing this on mountain roads two lanes. After I witnessed cars struggling to stop for the "roadmaster" I decided that was a little much. I can get out there on my own and catch or wait for the crew. some of them do think they own the road...maybe that why the general public is pissed......

Smile Bruised ego's play a large part in it too

Another survival story Dave ....... you be doing good man ....good to hear ya had your
intuitive perception of the oncoming situation well honed ...... .

Hate that skipping along deal Pete ....my 90 does the same at the slightest whim ....now come
to find out it's the shock that's well and truly past due ....bit of a rocking horse like ride on it
lately until I get a new shock on there

Grendl most cagers don't really differentiate between cruiser or sportbikes etc we are
all seen as a pain in *** by a good majority of 'em.

I usually find it's people who are egotistically attached to their big SUV , Beemer , Porsche
or something like that who hate the prospect of a two wheeled waay cheaper machine
blasting by them making 'em look like they don't even exist.

Had one of those yesterday on a 4 lane Hwy .....A-Hole in a brand spanking new Dodge Ram
Truck ....just purposefully kept on drifting out left thinking I'd gear down and stay
behind ( a passive agressive form of road rage).

Well tuff **** ....dropped 2 gears and .......goodbye !.

So he catches up with me at light at the end of the ramp from the highway .....rolls down
the window and says "hey you shouldn't be riding that thing so fast" !

"Is that right" says I ........."What happened ? laughing You couldn't afford the Hemi ?

Shoulda seen him .......... he went from red to purple and started hooting and hollering.

I laughed out loud again and says "well be seeing ya " "BYE"

It's amazing how politely insulting you can be if you put your mind to it.

Just got back from visiting my friend in the hospital. I loathe the words "I didn't even see him". Saying it doesn't excuse the person in the cage from causing so much unnecessary pain.

In order to make an exit on a freeway, that ****er put my friend in the hospital. Wonder how he felt when he got where ever he was going and if it was worth it.
