What Year Do You Own (1000)?
#111
I just selected 87-88 in the poll, but that's excluding the '95 engine.
Is there some info about changes in non-cosmetic parts?
For example, frame dimensions... to give an example why I know this is different; my 95 engine is so big, the 87 fuel tank will not fit without half inch risers front and rear.
And did the newer bikes have a fuel pump in stead of just a tap?
Also my front sprocket cover has no speedo cable connection to it, neither does the front wheel.
These are things I'd love to read about in detail, to start fixing my CBR up properly

Hey:
stefan2m 87-88 years only have the electric pump, newer do not. They fail and get removed as they are not needed, gravity feed works fine. 87-88 frames are a little different. The seat area and various tabs/gussets are the biggest differences, as just frame area above the head is flattened to clear the newer bodywork on newer frames. Wheel widths and suspension as well as the body work are the real noticeable and obvious things. The engines are pretty much the same. The Engine blocks are the same but the heads are different, as well as the timing, cams and carbs. The older bikes with a few mods can be made to wear the newer bodywork. A few parts like the wheels/suspension take little work to make fit on the older bikes, just finding and purchasing the parts at a good price is what makes it worth it or not.
Good Luck with whatever you decide to do with your bike. I hope this helps. look on here at the 3 different parts fiches will help a lot as what is the same and different. Honda Kawasaki Polaris Suzuki Yamaha Motorcycles ATVS Scooters Utility Vehicles
