Default Weather - not politics, just weather

To introduce the topic, people should be aware it has been somewhat chilly in the United States lately. Now that you know that, if you didn't we can proceed. And this is where the no politics part comes in.

I was reading a global warming article the other day. The person writing stated that cold temperatures here don't negate global warming because Australia is experiencing temperatures of 105. The author didn't specify but I assume farenheit because one assumes that if all the lakes and rivers in Australia were serving boiled fish we would have heard about it.

Anyway, I'm curious. What kind of temperatures are you more southerly chaps experiencing. And are those temperatures unusual for the time of year?

Remember, no political statement is implied or desired. I'm just curious.

The boat load of Chinese scientists, and 2 icebreaking ships that were stuck in the Antarctic ice flows since Christmas, were there to study the lack of ice down there. Irony at its best.

The polar ice flows are the largest they've been since its been kept track of.

I can't speak for the normal Australian summer temps though, but here in California its been a mild winter. We still have 30+ degrees daily temperature swing though.

Hit -10 here in Pittsburgh, PA today. 0 out right now. This is a record here in the state. Typically we are at like 15-30 and thats been about it since winter started. But saturday is projecting like almost 50's. Last weekend had 50's too. Odd *** changes. Cool side note, we hooked up the pressure washer at work and ran 160 degree water through it lol. Shot it up in the air and it was cool as hell looking. -30 windchill factor so cold that I trhough a bucket of soapy water out in the driveway and the **** froze before the bubbles could pop. Cool stuff.

in Victoria, Australia's most southern mainland state we are currently going to have 30c today & 39c next tuesday, we average 22c - 42c over the summer months.
me personally have a comfort zone of 17 - 26c anything over that is a waste of heat for mine
conversion is 17c = 62/63F & 42 = 107/ 108 & the one thing about where I live is ...if ya don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes...we can have 3-4 seasons in a day!

Finland, at this time normally it`s full on winter here with consistently under freezing, around -5c and -10c, tonight it has rained about 3-5cm of sleety, wet snow over a totally bare ground, all the lakes are completely open and my studded winter tires are completely going to waste as the studs wear away against the asphalt... It has promised to drop to -10 - -15c the coming weekend but only for a few days after which it warms up again. I`m 28 and don`t remember another winter so warm, I just started snowkiting last winter and it`s looking like I`m lucky if this winter I`m getting to the ice at all! Normally february is the coldest month here with temps usually around -20c with occasional -30:s so I`m actually kind of hoping for it to drop below freezing then, the endless mud is aggravating! I can`t even remember what color is my car and take a wild guess what a Cockerspaniel looks like, or rather what the SHOWER looks like after a long walk! Just hoping the spring will also come early and be exceptionally warm and dry!

I live in Tassie, and it is supposed to be the middle of summer, we had snow 2 days ago! Roll on global warming, I don't go much on the cold.

I live in LA, (Lower Alabama). :-)
it was 8 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. Just about everybody was ready to lose their minds. Being a Yankee by birth, I was loving it.

East coast of South Africa. Middle of summer. Currently 8PM local time, temp is 25c which is around 75F I guess. Daily around 30-35C maybe 80-95F But it's the 85% humidity that is the real killer. My back patio is brick and we have measured air temps of 48C at midday..............maybe 115F ? Bloody hot is all I'll say.

All pretty normal DRam.
We now have rain all year round - 25 years ago it only rained in summer.
