I bought these a few weeks back so I could pack my sons gear into them for our trip to the GP last week. It is amazing how much gear you can cram into these if they are packed properly. Gearsack is an Aussie brand of soft bike luggage much like Ventura. I'm not totally sure of the size of each pannier but I got heaps of stuff into them. I did make sure I put the stuff inside plastic bags which kept them dry. I rode to Phillip Island in heavy rain all day and the only thing that was damp was a pair of extra riding pants that I sat on top of the bagged clothes under the lid of the pannier. Not bad for 6 to 7 hours of solid rain. I paid $80 AUD for these reduced from $100. They just throw straight over the seat and my son sat on them without any problems. They did come with elastic straps to secure them from going side to side. I'm sure you could get something similar in the USA by some other brand. Cheers.

Like tires, saddlebags aren't a place to skimp on quality. I would hate to arrive somewhere and have one or both bags missing. Or even worse, having a bag get caught in the rear wheel. These are RKA tank and saddle bags, custom made for the 1990 colors. I always use the tank bag, but only sometimes use the saddle bags. They have held up well.

I totally agree there slowpoke. I would hate to arrive and everything was wet or tore up. I do like your saddlebags. I had a set that matched my Ninja that I had, rode arcoss the State with them. Now I have gotten these, even though I look like the USS Enterprise...

Another Fieldsheer option for you. Bags are expandable and are considerably larger than the Fieldsheers that you listed, for the same price. http://www.newenough.com/parts/close...addlebags.html And here's the Nelson Rigg Spirit for a couple of bucks less. http://www.newenough.com/parts/lugga...addlebags.html
