Default Runs on choke only.....

So this 1996 I'm going to work on only runs on the choke. And of course not well when it does run. Is there a "yeh, they all do that" thing these do or is it just the pilot jets being clogged?

Pilot jets clogged with the crappy fuel now a days. Have that happen to me once on my 1988. Cleaned the carbs and problem solved.

Have you checked your boots for cracks and/or improper seating?

Yup, have to agree. Worked on many bikes with those symptoms and in most cases, good carb cleaning was the cure, but as Wooferdog suggested, have had boots in one case and in another, missing sync port covers cause vacuum leaks that led to the problem.

This bike has 31k original and never been apart but I check everything when I take the carbs apart. Is there a video somewhere on how to remove the and vacuum line routing?

If you have been riding it and all of a sudden it is acting up, it could be you hit a bad pump. The ethanol has separated and you will need to drain the tank and refill with good gas.
Try to find a pump that is non-ethanol.

If this is a normal condition, I agree with the above statements that the mains are clogged.

Yes, im going to do that and never use anything but premium and a good fuel system cleaned and conditioner every fill up. This bike just became mine because the Previous Owner gave up on spending what it needs to be right. It's in great condition.
