Default Paddock Stands?

I know our bikes have a centre stand so we can get away without using any (unless of course you've got the single side exhaust).

But I was puzzled, how do you get it on the stand/s? Is it a two man job or is there a balancing act/trick involved??? 'Cos I wouldn't want to be balancing the 'old girl' with one hand for too long

I don't have a centerstand so I use my rear stand a lot. It's actually easier getting my bike on the stand stand solo than getting it off. The trick is to tighten the pads that go under the swingarm so they grip the swingarm while the bike is still on its sidestand. Then standing on the side of the bike, you raise it off of its sidestand till it's vertical and then step on the rear of the stand and the bike goes right up. Getting it off the stand, as I said, is trickier. If you try to push it off while sitting on the bike as you would when getting off of your centerstand, my stand, at least, will simply roll forward with the bike. The trick I usually use is to remove my belt, wrap it around the rear of the stand, and then pull up with the belt while sitting on the bike. My only concern is that my pants stay on during the whole process.

Sounds like a very personal situation between you and your bike to me Paco
.......... ah just dickin' with ya man.

I just roll her forward hand on front brake to hold her as the stand gets
past the pivot point and flips up.

Sitting on it and tippy toeing it forward can lead to skid marks .........only
not on the floor .......*****

Practice makes perfect. I can take my bikes on and off the races stands with out giving it a second thought. Couldn't even tell you what i do because its second nature now.

Once you raise the rear of a bike up a bit the center stand becomes less usable and you need rear stands.

Ya, all my bikes have shocks with ride height adjustments. Fox, ohlins, penske, they all have it. Can't live without some control over geometry.

You guys get buried today also???

Dude lets talk about the weather haha... Saying we are gona get another storm up to a foot next week and my ice bike isn't even ready.

Shocks are expensive but I can't think of a better way to spend $500 than on a decent used shock and a set of fork springs. Used Fox shocks run in the $200 to $500 range, you can find ohlins stuff for $400 and up used for most bikes. Some people will spend that and more to gain 5% HP or twice that to make the same bike a different color.

I want my **** to handle properly when i come into a corner a bit hot.
