Old Snake Hips
Just got the rear tyre on yesterday and thought I'd have a good couple of hours scrubbing it in this morning with a dawn raid on the local twisties
So last night it started pi55ing with rain and it was still going untill about 06:00 this morning , by seven it had stopped so went out for a cautious ride as the roads were wet and standing water everywhere . Unfortunately my local rout is prone to flooding so you do get small lakes in the road
So yes , new tyres do need to be 'scrubbed in', I've been wiggling about all morning and decided retreat was the better part of valour untill the roads dry out! Had one decidedly sphincter clenching moment rounding a fast left-hander ,
snaking from side to side
, kinda takes the fun out of things a bit .
I'm not an experienced wet weather rider , so the confidence levels are low at the best of times , so I tip-toed back home
However , the ride I did get was a revelation , what a difference there is to the 'turn in' on corners ! It's like riding a different bike , all of a sudden she thinks she's a 'Super Sport', instead of a 'Sports Tourer!' No longer do I have to drag her into a corner , can't wait to get back out there , just hope the rain holds off for the rest of the day!!

Wet weather riding is an aquired skill that's for sure.
Diesel spills are even worse in the rain - sphincter flutter is a natural occurrence !
Glad you made it back OK - leave the scrubbing for a better day !

Made me smirk a little. I had an oohooohohohhoooh Sheeeeet moment yesterday at the local vehicle emissions testing location and I was standing still! Thanks to out "Brown Cloud" have real stringent vehicle emission control where I am.
Long story short when I was creeping the old gal up to the place I was tested, for some reason I don't know why he made me pull in between the tire rollers for cars and trucks. DO NOT DO THIS GUYS. As planted my foot, I stepped in the slipperiest, snottiest, invisible oil slick I have ever seen in my life. It must have looked like an episode of The 3 Stooges. One of those scinerios where the harder you try to recover and frimly replant the worse it gets. I ended up finishing gracefully with the attendant just standing and watching and offering NO help. I thanked him for his brave efforts in not offering a hand and suggested he clean up the oil. After I got a blank stare I grabbed a rag and did it myself. Gotta love government workers. ( AND I AM ONE LOL )
Just wanted to forward an FYI to those who have to get emission tested pull AROUND the spots where the gas guzzlers run their wheels. May save an embarrassing, costly booboo due to someone's ignorance.
She passed with flying colors btw
the old girl is running so clean they tested it twice. LOL

Anyway ...I recon these older heavier CBRs are not real good in the wet at going hard ...

I even get a bit sketched out even on the bigger faster open bends in the wet ...
I wouldn't even ridie my bike home after the new tires- I'm noobish enough as it is, so had my BF do it. I saw enough youtube videos of people wiping out on new tires
