Nah Sprock, I work mostly in the Norwegian sector. My dad was on the construction of that platform back in the 70/80's. Kinsale is just down the road from me, nice town, if a wee bit expensive, but its got style.

Gday Headhunter. Welcome to the forum. Great guys here with plenty of ideas and DIY stuff. They've saved me plenty of money with stuff I can do myself. Cheers.

You'll be amazed to know....no rebuilds. Cam chain changed 3 times and a few other "normal" works like a new exhaust system after 80,000 and that needs changing soon. Both brake calipers have had to be changed once..thats about it. I do change the oil every 4000mls and filter every second change, plugs i change every 15,000.. I do 90% of the work myself and do look after the bike without fail..reckon that keeps it going.I actually bought a second engine about 4 yrs ago when the clock passed 99,999 "just in case" and its still sitting there. Bike shop that changed the cam chain last time reckoned the bike will go around the clock again.

Well done Headhunter. It just goes to show with regular, preventative maintenance, what mileage is achievable on a CBR1000F.

Mrs SB's eldest son is now looking for one based on my ravings of their virtues and your mileage/lack of problems is a great indicator for him.

Cheers, SB

Hi, I am Tor from Norway. Dreamed about a big Honda for 40 years, and finally got one. CBR 1000 F 1990. Seemed to be in good condition. But it had some severe problems with overheating on my first ride, so now Iīm a little frustrated...Canīt drive, donīt dare to before Iīve found out whatīs wrong....

I'm not surprised , these big under stressed engines should do big miles . regular oil changes are the key to any engines life . well done . I was thinking , maybe a top end clean up , valve guides and seats , but It seems these old girls are pretty good in that area as well
