I'm sure the new bike will be a pleasure, and hope you have many happy miles, and smiles.
Keep in touch, just because you don't own a 1000F doesn't mean you have to lose all your friends.
We'll be here, drop by and visit, there'll always be a virtual cold frosty one on the bar for you.
Thanks...
I'm not going anywhere

Well then, Welcome home Matt.

You're buying this round, right?

I consider all you guys my friends. I've always enjoyed coming on here and reading stories about the bikes, rides, etc. I'm not gonna abandon my buddies just because I sold my 1000F to my neighbor lol. Visiting here allows me to get lost reading about others adventures and gets my mind away from what's going on here

As for this round, sure! I've got some Blue Moon in the fridge and a brand new bottle of Crown Royal in the freezer

So I was out in the yard tonight changing the 80/90 in the final drive and thought I'd snap a pic to share.
She's a 2008 Connie 14 with 2" Heli Risers (not 1 3/4 like I thought). The risers have a Ram ball mount on one side and a small BMW type power outlet on the other. I'll be mounting my iPhone there to use with the new Sygic GPS app I just got. It has a tall factory windscreen with a Laminar Lip on the top. I also have the stock short windscreen for it. It has the factory 42L side cases and a Shad 42L trunk (not pictured). I also just got a Sena Bluetooth unit for my helmet to listen to my music while I'm riding and also for turn-by-turn guidance on the GPS.

Now you can do a Conni vs 1kf for us.

We love our bikes but are still interested in what's out there too.

I wanted to demo a GTR1400 last month but they were signed out for the two days of Americade where the demos were.

Sorry to hear of your and your wife's troubles Matt.

Wish you both well, just remember you've got to take care of yourself first, in order to care for others. Too often carers neglect their own welfare.

Enjoy the new ride, she's a looker

Nice, very nice indeed Matt.

We'll have to have the Connie owners section of the CBR Forum

Take care and give your Wife a hug from us!

Cheers, SB

The Connie has the farkles I wanted to do to the 1000F. Mostly the handlebar risers. That was the only real complaint I had about my 1000F.
As for comparisons?
I'm not sure what the HP rating for the 1000F is, but the Connie is supposedly 156 HP. Both are very quick (for me) bikes.
I was getting about 40 mpg with the 1000F. I'm getting about 44 mpg with the Connie (according to the display on the dash)
The saddle I had on the 1000F (Rick's) was more comfortable than the one on the Connie. The Connie seat pushes you forward and puts uncomfortable pressure on my lower back on long rides. I'll be sending the saddle off to Spencer's this fall to have it lowered some, reshaped and have a gel cushion installed.
I was able to flatfoot the 1000F and am almost tippy-toeing the Connie when I'm stopped (hence getting the seat lowered about 1").
Shaft drive is nearly maintenance free, whereas I was cleaning and lubricating the chain on the 1000F every couple hundred miles or so.
Engine maintenance may be more expensive with the Connie due to the variable valve timing and fuel injection.
The windscreen on the Connie is nice compared to the 1000F. It's power adjustable for height from a handlebar rocker switch. I can raise it all the way up and run with the visor on my helmet up and not feel any air hit my face.
Both are great bikes. The Connie is set up more for what I want to do. If I had sold my ATV instead of trading it for the Connie, I had a nice list of things I would have done to the 1000F to make it more comfortable for me.
I think that covers it lol

Thanks hawk. I went for a 275 mile ride last Sunday and it was nice to get out and get my mind off things!

Thanks Craig. It's going to be a long road ahead for her, but she's making good progress so far. We figure she may be in the rehab place for another couple months. I go visit her a couple times every day and keep reminding her to have patience.

Thanks woof! We plan on going to Westport again to go fishing one of these days. She has plenty of incentive to do all she can do to heal. Family, fishing, etc....
