I am out of ideas :icon_cry:
HA HA! I thought my bike was a standard model, and I just looked up the VIN and it is a california! I set the pilot screw to 2.5 turns out, it should be 2.75!

Well I adjusted the idle screw and it did much better this morning, but still wss backfiring, I am going to pull out the carbs again tomorrow and clean out the idle circuit again and adjust if need be. Getting closer.
I think that my intake boots are leaking. I have been taking off my carbs alot to work on them and I think that it has just worn them out. A couple of them look like crap, are they hard to replace?

Well if they are leaking ....that sure will cause her to fart and not run very well if at all ...
They are just rubber sockets with screw clips on the engine like the ones on the carbs , so I would imagine that they are not tooo hard to swap out ...
(I have never removed mine)
...Before you go ripping them off .... just tighten all the clamps and try bumping the main large idle screw up 2 turns to see if she fires any easier first ...
... , om just curious ...

I am going to work on it more tomorrow but I also wanted to say that it backfiredthrough the exhaust as well as through the carbs today and I didn't know why it did that. Too lean a mixture?
Are you absolutely sure that all your plugs are firing...and consistently?
If they're fouled up you'll likely have backfiring from random fire. How do they look? Are some wet, are some not?

Finally a suggestion that is other than the carbs.
... Tired of the carbs.
I am not sure about the plugs, I looked at them firing, but wouldn't know if they were at the wrong times. I will see if any are fouled tomorrow.

Hey Pablo ... to aid us with the possible diagnosis of your problem , do us a favor mate ...if anyone asks you a question or brings a point about a specific part , or anything else for that matter to your attention ...could you please a least respond with a short reply answering the question ...
EG/
did you try to wind the idle up at all ? and did it make any difference?
if it did make a difference , what was it ?
EG/
are the plugs the same ones that you ran the chit fuel through with in the first place ? have you tried cleaning them ..?
Are they sparking nice and bright or not ?
(if you have not mixed the leads up they will be firing in the correct order)
We want to try to help if we can , but to do so we need to know all the details and answers as we go ...
and for a little inspiration for just you mate ...
*om outta here for a quite cruise now *
