Default How to lower foot pegs on 1988 1000?

Just got a 1988 1000 and I have a bum right knee. Riding comfort would be improved if I could lower the pegs an inch or two.
Any suggestions??

Looking at my 1996 -I don't see why one couldn't cut a piece of aluminium plate to act as a mount to drop the pegs slightly - the brake pedal is integral to the right footrest, and the gear pedal could be mounted one tooth over to drop it down.

You could mock it up with some hardboard before you cut into 1/4 aluminum sheet etc?
