Default Long legs and Buell pegs???

I have read on several forums about swapping out Buell front pegs for our stock ones to gain 1 1/2 to 2 inches of leg room. Has anyone done this and what are the things to look out for. I'm a big boy, 6'3 and 320. So I would love as much leg room as possible, without putting the pegs on the ground. By the wayI have drug my left foot leaving work on a sharp turn several times

Thanks,

James

I've seen those posts too, and considered doing the conversion but never did. My understanding is that the pegs need to be modifieda little to make them work with the Honda peg mounts. My other understanding is that you don't use stock Buell pegs, but rather accessory pegs made for the Firebolt, like these. Oops. It appears they are stock on some models.

An easy mod is to install a pair of race pegs without the rubber on them. That will get you ca 1 cm of ekstra leg room. Then the leg room is like the one on a VFR750

I'm a big guy like you and lowering the pegs is not a good option due to ground clearance issues.

Get the seat raised by a few inches by using some very stiff foam. It made all the difference to me.

Here is something I found on a German site

You can order them for both pillion and driver

for OEM footrest bracket, adjustable in 8 positions, moving 23, 30 or 50mm, for pillion, footpegs in round or tapered
(please tell moving by order)

BTW. Race pegs without the rubber does give more legroom, but they increase ground clearance due to the lack of heroglobs

That last one is a little steep on price. I have found a guy on the CBR Bird forum that makes some lowering mounts for about 55 a set, and then there are the buell pegs for about 30-50 a set depending on the dealer. I am still thinking about this.

Heres the email for the mounts: davrstrom@hotmail.com

email reply from last week.

Yes, I still have these although I have no idea if the CBR-F uses the same style/size/angle bracket as the CBR1100XX. If any aftermarket pegs fit both the bikes I forsee no problem then. I know the Buell pegs have to be modifyed in order to fit the CBR1100XX.

To order you can either Paypal me or mail me a check. Cost is $55 shipped.

Thanks

Dave Strom

Good luck,

Do you have a link to that thread on the Bird forum, so we can see a pictire of the lowering mounts?
