Default Hi Viz Gear & apparently other stuff too :-)

What's the general opinion on Hi ViZ gear ??

Almost went for a jacket in it today but went a different direction

Needed a full style winter jacket and went with a FirstGear KathMandu (199) at MotocycleGearDotcom on close out .... free ship

Almost went for the Hi Viz version ...... but .....well it seemed
a bit too much visually if you ask me

Hi Viz : more for the adventure sport types or what ??

I think the really high vis stuff is mainly to stop Volvo drivers running you over!

i know it is required when riding on any us military base. other than that i personally don't see the need for it. i tend to drive VERY defensively so that may be why.

Hi Sporck - I was watching this too . "FirstGear KathMandu (199) at MotocycleGearDotcom",

What is your opinion now you've got it? Quality? Size is important to us here in Aust because cant seem to get this brand here. ---- what size are you and what size did you buy - did it fit OK or would you change?

TIA

If I did a lot of night/winter riding I'd use it. But I'm a daytime/summer rider.

In the end it's down to personal choice, but I certainly don't look down on those that choose to wear it.

You could also consider auxiliary lighting, it'll get you noticed.

Hey Naga ............. I won't know until next week man ...only one I could get at that
price was the Silver / Sand in my size anyhow ....and Ive seen it on someone before
and was impressed with the jacket then ...so I expect NOT to be disappointed

Jarvid : Seems you had the right answer if that was the case I'd end up running myself
over ......lol or HenryM might get me ....he's another high mileage Volvo Guy

Plus they just gave me a Hi Viz here at work too ....... it may come in handy when the
clock goes back I suppose

But hey Hawk , yeah man , there's all kinds of strobes/ LED's now that can be added

Hey:

I like it especially the ICON Green/Yellow stuff, looks good and who knows it may save your life for the same price as regular gear. Not such a fan of Orange though.

420,000 on a 240 DL wagon here, sold it when I left the UK. Brought the Saab 900 Turbo, Pontiac GT, CBX and CBR home. It is still going AFAIK probably hit a million on it.

yeah the orange was never a consideration .........bit too "suspect"
The Sand and Silver will match my Walmart Rain pants .....right TBT

But Hey ya .....these Vovlo's man almost as bullet proof as a Hurricane !

Easy enough to work with too, brakes , transmission ( my s80 has the Volvoized
GM trans in her the 4T65 (v)) in it) ......drop the pan on that baby every 50k
put a new wix filter in her and reload it through and through with Mobil 1 Synth Atf
not one grind or hard shift out of her with 166k

Only thing that got me one time was the sludge box (pcv) got stuffed and blew out
all the seals in the cams and big end a 2k event ....but copped it before I blew the
motor completely !

When the time comes ....another one will replace it .

But back to the jacket ......could a used it here this am ! lower 40's
