You all live in some very cool places!
Micheal, I was just out your way a couple years ago. All around Pheonix/Maricopa County. (Every time I say "maricopa county", all I can think of is that movie "Raising Arizona"...lol...)
Also stayed in Flagstaff a couple nights. Then on to the Canyons and Dam, then up to Vegas, and finished in Martinez, CA (family there).
There are some seriously beautiful places out your way. I'd like to take the wife out some time. She's never been out west.
I'm way out on the FAR West Side of town. Maybe you recognize a few of these?

I like Flag, but too many hippies. I use to do some contract felling (tree cutting) work in the off-fire season months for the Forest Service. Acutally making the Forest and the other trees healthier, and reducing fire hazards. The hippies didn't take to us well.... They liked to drive spikes in the trees (which ends up killing them anyways) so the chains on our saws would hit 'em and come flying off. Nothing like having a chain of razor sharp teeth flying at ya like a whip lol.

Man, I hate hippies.. lol..
There are quite a few in CA, too... Hippies everywhere, walking around barefoot with dogs running wild. They all seem to drink good beer, though... especially that Sierra Nevada stuff..
(doesn't make me hate them less, though.. )
The strangest thing for me about flagstaff was that when I got there it was like 70+ degrees out. Went to bed, and woke up to about 6" of snow.
I think it was some time in march. Fricken' weird when you've been wearing shorts and t-shirts and looking at sand and cacti for the last few days...
Then you drive not even 10miles from there and it's warm and dry.
Much like the Canyon was, really. Snow on top, but you can see people hiking in shorts and tank tops in the bottom of the canyon. Elevation makes a big difference....
