Have you ever read his thoughts on the word "set"? Absolutely amazing; without even thinking about, we instinctively apply context to it, but it has such a myriad of meanings.

BUT, how about your (k)nowledge of invisable letters?
ie. The number one horse won.
In this case we can clearly see the letter 'w' in the word 'won' but can't see it in the word 'one'. Also, in the word 'one' we can see the letter 'e' but it has disappeared in the word 'won'. For both words to sound the same, those letters have to be present but are invisible.
PM sent. lol

Older thread, but the foibles of English are worth it
Won One was a racehorse.
Two To was one too.
Won One won one race.
Two To won one too.
Please explain how, to the class of , "Beginner English for Speakers of Other Languages" to sort that feckin mess out.

As long as you don't mind a hoarse horse they are. Good thing we are talking racehorses, because who could stand standing up a little horse that's a little hoarse up on a stand for the vet?

I fixed you post TK.
Its one of the words in my list.
burned, burnt
dreamed, dreamt
kneeled, knelt
leaned, leant
leaped, leapt
spelled, spelt
spilled, spilt
spoiled, spoilt
It is very important to get a clear understanding of what the other person is talking about or this could happen;
