25th Birthday
This thread makes me feel so old!
When the K1 was first relaesed I was invited by BMW Australia for a test ride. Loved it, loved the out-there styling which, as was pointed out above is very similar to the CBR1000F, with the Honda being a tad more 'organic'.
Cheers, SB

1) We are getting older, let's just accept that and move on, I understand it is inevitable.
2) Back in the 80's, did we really care about "organic" (if indeed we actually do today), that was totally the age of "mine is bigger and more powerful than yours"
On reflection I'm actually quite liking those built in panniers on the K1.
I can't believe I just said that, next thing you know I'll be joining Roy Cropper in The Trainspotters Club.
Anywho.... We digress. I originally started this thread with the thought in mind of How do we define the Old Girls that turn 25 this year?
Is it manufacture date or first registration? I know mine sat round for some years in a dealership, then had some problems, and was first registered in 91, is it still an 87?

No offense at all Seb, but we have two things going on here mate.

It is an '87 - an be proud of it!
As for the styling
Now for the celebration, to get back on-topic, dare I suggest something akin the the Queen's Diamond Jubilee
Perhaps a get together in each continent? I Know I'm incontinent

Cheers, SB
Sort of strikes me as a "German Paso" but hell, I'd ride it today.
I've said it before, I think today's sportbikes look like some sort angry mechanical insect with some kid trying to hump it and even though with the Corbin saddle my bike looks like a swayback old mare, I wouldn't trade her for anything.
Except for another just like her

The K1 would've looked even better with a " smaller " front gaurd. Man it looks like they've screwed a Sherman tank on there !!!! Lovely bike though and even I can remember when they arrived. Long live the bikes of the 80's. I'd never buy a new bike now. Nothing takes my fancy.
Only a true Coro anorak would know Hayley/Harolds maiden name Sprock.
