modify your levers
This is by WHYLEE of VFRDISCUSSION
I just tried this little mod and it worked great. It may have been gone over before but I have not seen it.
I bought some stuff called plasti Dip from Lows Hardware, it comes in different colors but I used black. Its some real thick stuff, I just dipped my front brake and clutch levers in and stopped just before the mounting holes.
I let them soak about 30 seconds then slowly removed them and let them drip back into the can for about 1 minute.
Then hang them and let them dry for a few hours. They come out with a nice rubber like coating. If I can find some blue I may redo them later but the black looks pretty cool.
I am going to get pics of the new paint and all the new mods as soon as im done putting it all back together.

What I've been using for 20 years is 3/4 inch black rubber heat shrink tubing... it gives a nice grippy feel and won't wear off...

RE: modify your levers
I would clean the lever really good, to make sure there is no junk and grease on it. I may even go as far as roughing the lever up with sand paper, so the rubber dip has something to grip onto.
make sure not to dip all the way up to the end of the lever- or it could hinder the operation of the clutch and brake's. I would say leave atleast 1 and 1/2 inch of lever expose.
I have not done this on my bike yet, so I cant tell you If I can feel anything.
