I would suspect your kickstand safety switch. It is located right at the top of your kickstand. I would check it to make it didnt become unplugged. Also, make sure its adjusted properly. that is the most common thing.
Also, you have a clutch safety switch that is located on your clutch. Check to make sure its connected. I'm not sure of any adjustment for this one though.

+1 on the sidestand switch - I've seen it happen before, a number of times.
They stick sometimes, too.

yeah if it was the kickstand you could start it in neutral and as soon as you went into gear it would die.....it sounds like the clutch leaver switch if it wont start in gear with the clutch engaged i would replace that first.....couldnt be much more then that.....thats the only two devices breaking the circut to the starter....and if it starts in neutral then u know its not the starter button....
ill try that...one question i have is ...do you recomend a shop to put it in or is it pretty simple to install? im no mechanic but i know more then the basics...but i kno nothing about electrical....
thanks

You could do this yourself, its not hard to replace switches, or wires, just remember the clutch switch may require the lever to come off to get it out. I know my bike's safety switch is like that.
