wont go into 6th gear????

Default wont go into 6th gear????

Hey I just bought a cbr 600 1996.....all seems fine except I was riding at about 45 an it wouldn't go into 6th gear....all other gears are fine though any ideas

sure you counted right? Not to mention 45 in 6th would feel awful sluggish.

without knowing your experience... I would suggest making sure you are starting out in first gear and not second. First gear is all the way down... then up one is neutral, up two is second gear and so on. If your going from neutral and then into second gear to take off, you may be in 6th gear and not even know it.

If you go down once and up five times your in 6th gear.

I've got the same issue with basically the same bike. Spoke with people at a local shop and they said that it's probably a bent shift fork. Probably not worth fixing because it would cost more to fix than the bike.

Believe me, I've run it down the road just to count the number of gears a few times. It's definitely only going to 5th gear.
