wobbling during hard braking
i've been riding for about a 1 1/2 (cbr600rr) months so im a new ridder however i was going on the road and i was riding on the left lane didnt have anybody behind me but there was somebody on the right lane fair away from me then this girl pulled up of a apartment complex making a 18wheeler turn (you know what i mean right?) so i didnt wanna just change lanes b/c i didnt know what lane she was gonna get in after the turn so all i did was brake very hard i must say... then i felt a wobble and immediately i released my front break then it felt like it went away, so i apply the font brake again to try to stop in time right, so i did it again and it wobbled some more so again immediately i realsed the pressure on the break by the time the second wobble was over with i was in the "safe zone" from hitting that car, so my question now is, did my riding position caused this to happen or was it to much break or both or neither? one thing i do know b/c my instructor said something about it in my msf course was to "immediately release the presure on the front brake if that was to happen. i just dont know why it did... some advice, help and/or why it happened could greatly improve my riding skills... thanks.
Well i know the first and only time i ever felt a wobble from using my front brake i ended up on the ground. I locked the front tire and didnt use the back at all, and im pretty sure i was trying to swerve(to avoid the person who had just pulled out in front of me)...so my guess is you locked the front brake. Were you using the back brake as well, or only the front?
How much rear brke were you using? Hard braking with the rear with make the back end slide around and feel like a wobble. Also what's your suspension setting like? If it's too soft in the front and the front end dives a lot with hard braking, then the rear will try to swing around because of the weight shift.
things happened so fast i dont rember if i was using my rear brake, i really doubt it though, my bike is 06 cbr600rr and the settings on the bike are stock i havent messed with them, i know what you mean when your braking with both and the rear feels like it gonna slide i've feltthat one b4 but this one wasnt like that, maybe it was just me i dunno one thing is for sure that i felt a wbble in the front and i know i aint carzy... lol anyways thanks for the help
I would Experiment with the brakes to see if you can repeat the wobble, put the bike on a stand with the front wheel off the ground and turn it by hand, look, listen and feel the wheel when it turns, apply the front branks (and back if it’s a link system) a little. check the rim, tire, discs and pads.
Check the wheel bearings, front and back and the swing arm for play.
if the bike is new, get the shop to have a look.
