Default Will '96 wheels fit on a '04 bike

Can anyone tell me if wheels from a 1996 model will fit straight on a 2004 model CBR600F? I know for a pair for sale but I'm not sure they will fit.

Most likely not - I think you're referring to a 04 600 F4i? Might have just been called the 600F in other countries?

Either way, I haven't seen the swap done from F4i to F3, which is basically what you're asking in reverse. If F3 owners haven't done that in effort to get the wider F4i rear wheel, it's probably not that simple.

the 96 had a narrower rear rim, Brake rotors, drive hub alignment, all kinds of other things come into play.
