Default Wierd instrument cluster problem

I installed an HID kit (same one as blue fox) and everything works except for the needles on the gauges. The instrument cluster lights come on but the needles on the gauges dont move and the odometer reads 1. I have taken the front fairing off 3 times to double check connections and make sure nothing was unplugged but everything seems good. I also checked all of my fuses and they are also good. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect it my gauges work fine, but its hit or miss if they will work again after I shut the bike off. Anyone have an idea of why it would be doing this and what I could do to fix it? The bike is a 99 F4 with 5500 miles on it and has never had a problem of any kind before this and any help or information on why its doing this will be much appreciated!!

That ones got me stumped. It sounds like you may be having a problem with your guages themselves... I wonder if a board in there is going bad? You may have to take that one in to get it checked.

Clean out your main instrument harness with some canned air or air compressor or something (both the female and male end). Also, disconnent your battery and take out and then replace the fuses (withthe old ones but new ones might be better). When I installed my buddies I did this and he hasnt had any problems since.

Thanks for the responses! I really dont think It is the gauges but you never know... I will clean the harnesses and replace the fuses and see if that does anything!
